7 Reasons Your Website Is Not Getting Enquiries (and How to Fix Them)

Blog cover: Why your website is not getting enquiries

Many business owners tell us the same thing: “We have a website, but nobody contacts us through it.” Usually the design is not the main problem. It is a handful of practical issues that stop visitors from taking the next step. Here are the seven we see most often.

1. It is slow, especially on mobile

If a page takes too long to load, many visitors leave before they see anything. Large images, cheap hosting and too many plugins are the usual causes.

How to fix it: compress your images, choose reliable hosting, remove plugins you do not use, and test your pages with Google’s free PageSpeed Insights tool.

2. It is hard to use on a phone

Most of your visitors are probably on a phone. Tiny text, buttons that are hard to tap and menus that do not open properly all drive people away.

How to fix it: open your website on your own phone and try to do what a customer would do. Text should be easy to read without zooming, and buttons big enough to tap with a thumb.

3. Visitors cannot tell what you do

People decide within seconds whether they are in the right place. A vague headline like “Welcome to our website” makes them work too hard.

How to fix it: say clearly what you do, who it is for and where you are, in the first lines of the page. For example: “Interior design for homes and offices in Malappuram”.

4. There is no clear next step

If visitors have to hunt for a phone number or a contact page, many will not bother.

How to fix it: choose one main action for each page, such as calling, sending a WhatsApp message or filling in a short form, and make it easy to see. Repeat the button further down the page, and make phone numbers tap-to-call on mobile.

5. The enquiry form asks too much

Long forms with many required fields put people off, especially on a phone.

How to fix it: ask only for what you need to reply, usually a name, a way to contact them and a short message. Offering a WhatsApp option as well helps people who prefer to chat.

6. There are no reasons to trust you

Visitors want to know you are a real, reliable business before they get in touch.

How to fix it: show real photos of your work, your team or your premises, genuine customer reviews, examples of past projects, and clear contact details and location. Never use fake reviews or stock photos pretending to be your team.

7. Nobody can find it, and nobody is measuring it

A website cannot bring enquiries if nobody visits it, and you cannot improve what you do not measure.

How to fix it: set up the basics of SEO, including clear page titles and descriptions, Google Search Console and a complete Google Business Profile. Add tracking with Google Analytics 4, so you can see how many people visit and which pages lead to enquiries. Our guide to getting more local customers from Google Business Profile is a good place to start.

A 10-second test you can do today

Open your website on your phone and show it to a friend for ten seconds. Then ask them three questions: what do we do, where are we, and how would you contact us? If they cannot answer all three, your visitors probably cannot either.
